Weight seems to be everyone’s major thing to be worried about these days. Whether it is a factory owner worrying over the net weight of his product which uses high tech Industrial scales to check for the losses, or a pharmacist using Electronic scales for checking the correct proportions; weight is everyone’s problem. Your body weight is another topic that is most conversed about. Not just adults, but children in USA too are are increasingly subject to weight disorders. With the outbreak of the fast food tradition and PS 2 obsession, there is no explanation to why you might be concerned about your kid to be labeled as a “couch potato” by his schoolmates. Undoubtedly this is a big matter of concern. The total percentages of kids in USA who are obese are nearly sixteen to thirty three percent. Obesity is termed as the “second leading cause of preventable death in America”.

Many people may disagree that if a child does not take much fats, he or she will not have enough nutrients to make him grow well. What they fail to comprehend is the difference between eating healthy and over eating. Moreover, researches prove that the dietary habits in earlier stage of your life decide your physique for the later phase of your life. Once you have trespassed infancy, your dietary habits will decide how heavy you will be when you grow up. For instance a person may eat much as an adult but does not gain much weight; the cause behind he may not have been used to of eating a lot when he was a kid. All in all, early dietary habits have a major role to play in your weight for the rest of your life.

Now the query is what is the causes of child obesity? The major reason may be the genes the child has inherited. If one of the two parents is obese, this gives the child a fifty percent chance of being obese. In the case, where both parents are obese, the risk is up to eighty percent. However, besides being the major reason, that is not it. The second most common of the reasons is that your child might have improper dietary habits. This may be due to the ever increasing attraction of kids towards fast food and junk food. Added to this would be lack of exercise. Children who continuously sit on the sofa watching TV or playing videogames tend to become more obese than the ones who stay active and sporty. Other causes may be psychological. Children tend to gain weight due to low self esteem or just because they are used to taking too much of mental tensions.

To control weight disorders, the key area to put your attention on is a healthy diet. However, this may not mean you should put your children on diet. All you have to do is manage it well. Offer children healthy food to eat like vegetables, juices and fish. Increase the physical activity of your kid, and make him take part in activities and sports. Also you need to talk to your child and figure out what are the mental tensions or stress he or she is coming across with.

You should stress on eating meals properly at the dining area rather than on the sofa. These will continue a habit of sitting upright while he or she dines. Losing weight may not be very easy once you are in love with food. However, it is not so difficult either. All you have to work with is a little determination and optimism. All the best!
