Lebron’s Choice And Its Effects
For anyone who has been living under a rock, Lebron James is a free agent and will be choosing a team to play for, whether it is his current team the Cavaliers or somewhere new. Even people who opt not to watch ESPN on a regular basis will be aware of this fact because the story has gone into mainstream media and national news stations like Fox News and CNN. Lebron will select a team, either his current one or a new one, in an hour long national press conference in the very near future. One has to wonder what kind of prep work has to go into setting up for an impromptu news conference like this and there will definitely be a hand cart or hand carts involved as everything from sound equipment to cameras are set up all over the place. In the following few paragraphs a summary will be given of some of the choices Lebron has, and then the ramifications of where he chooses will be discussed at the end.
One of the possibilities on the table for the basketball superstar is to stay with his current team the Cavaliers. The Cavs are from Cleveland, very close to James’s hometown of Akron, and clearly have a special place in his heart. The Cleveland economy has also been very positively changed by Lebron playing in the city, as more people go to games and then spend money downtown while at the Cavs games.
While the Cavaliers are more likely than not the frontrunners for Lebron’s signature, there are a few other choices on the table as well. One of these possibilities is to go to the Miami Heat, who have recently resigned fellow star Dwayne Wade and brought in new player Chris Bosh, an excellent player in his own right. Experts are espousing the idea that going to Miami is probably Lebron’s best chance to win multiple NBA titles due to of the strong supporting cast they’ve just brought in. Furthermore, the Chicago Bulls are an option and they have just signed two time all star Carlos Boozer and already have an excellent point guard to go with James in Derrick Rose. Lastly, the New York Knicks are a long shot to sign Lebron partially due to the fact that they’re in one of the biggest media cities in the world.
There will be a number of ramifications for Lebron depending on where he winds up playing next year. If, as has been hinted at by some experts, Lebron signs with the Miami Heat to play with Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade he could win a number of league championships. However, it ultimately could be a bad thing for the brand that James wants to turn himself into because people will see that he couldn’t win a title on his own and had to have two or three other stars around him to get him over the hump.
Despite the fact that there are quite clearly thousands of more important things going on in the world at the moment, Lebron James will soon choose a team where he will play next year via an hour long news special so at last, America can exhale.
